Development Manager (start date: summer 2023)

Reporting to the CEO, the Development Manager will spearhead a comprehensive individual giving program that results in short-term gains and significant long-term growth of philanthropic support in tandem with increased institutional visibility and reach. Focusing on individual giving, the position will lead the organization’s development initiatives to successfully achieve an annual contributed revenue goal. There will be a strong emphasis on client services such as identifying and cultivating new donors through personal relationships.

Duties:

  • Managing the festival’s full portfolio of individual donors by cultivating and soliciting new and existing low to high-level supporters.
  • Stewarding relationships with donors and acknowledging them through a comprehensive list of donor benefits and events
  • Preparation of letters of solicitation; including the annual appeal letter
  • Develop a planned giving program, informing and educating LGMF’s constituents about opportunities to support LGMF through bequests and deferred gifts.
  • In partnership with the Board of Directors, create initiatives to expand the LGMF prospect pipeline and donor base by engaging new and leveraging existing stakeholder networks.
  • Represent LGMF at fundraising events, as well as at other community events, seminars, mixers, and conferences.
  • Provide guidance and direction to stimulate involvement and best utilize the fundraising abilities and resources, as well as community ambassadorship connections, of the Board.
  • Assist in the Board Nominating Committee’s strategy and implementation of Board prospect identification, cultivation, and recruitment.

Compensation:

This is a part time position. $2,000 base stipend paid monthly + bonuses, incentives, and reimbursement for travel. The festival is prepared to frequently re-negotiate contract terms allowing opportunities for serious growth and expansion of the position. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to move to full-time.

This position is 80-90% remote work. However candidates must have a reliable vehicle and be available to meet with donors in person in the Lake George area at least once per month, year-round. Candidates must also be available to personally connect with donors at the festival itself in August and at other networking events locally throughout the year. Housing will be provided for all visits to the area if not local.

Requirements:

-Experience in non-profit development
-Strong interpersonal skills

While not required, knowledge of classical music will give candidates an advantage. Candidates with sales experience are highly encouraged to apply.
