THE CARRIAGE HOUSE AT FORT WILLIAM HENRY:
The Carriage House is a historic 19th century building on the shores of beautiful Lake George. Once the site of a major battle during the French and Indian War, the Carriage House has seen many transformations during its lifetime. It was originally built as a barn-like structure to house the horses and carriages used to transport guests from New York City to Lake George in the early 1900s. In the mid-1900s it was used for a variety of purposes including housing for hotel workers, office space, and of course: a performance space!
2023 RENOVATION:
Several years ago, the Lake George Music Festival took up a vested interest in the Carriage House. This underutilized treasure was often overlooked and was not used as a performance space since the 1970s. Seeing our success in 2021 and 2022, and seeing the opportunity to host large-scale lakeside weddings, the Fort William Henry Hotel administration embarked on a massive project to fully renovate and restore the Carriage House into a grand lake side event space during the winter of 2022-2023. Having a historic, lake-side venue with all the preferred amenities will allow Lake George to again be a cultural tourism destination. The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2023.
THE CARRIAGE HOUSE TODAY:
The Carriage House is fully ADA compliant, air-conditioned, and features a large open seating interior. Our large open seating platform allows us seat up to 300 guests comfortably without feeling over crowded. The Fort William Henry property offers a full restaurant and bar, newly renovated hotel rooms, and arguably the best view of any facility on Lake George.
Affordable and convenient parking is available for all concerts and events at the Fort William Henry Hotel Conference Center paved parking lot for $10 per vehicle. A free shuttle will be available to assist disabled guests with the 2 minute walk from the Conference Center parking lot to the Carriage House. Patrons arriving in a wheelchair may be dropped off at the entrance to the Carriage House before proceeding to park at the Conference Center lot. Patrons can also purchase a full LGMF Parking Pass valid at all events.
